To check the Myntra commission and fee breakdown per order, download your settlement report and order report, join them on the order or item ID, and list each deduction. Recalculate commission and fees using the rates in your seller agreement or rate card. Any difference between the recalculated and charged amount is a mismatch to investigate and, if valid, raise with Myntra.
What makes up the deductions on a Myntra order
The payout for an order is not the selling price. Myntra deducts several items before settling the balance. The exact heads, names and calculation basis depend on your agreement and category, so treat the list below as a checklist, not a rate card.
- Commission: usually a percentage or an agreed margin structure on the order value.
- Fixed or closing-type fees: a per-item charge, if your terms include one.
- Shipping or logistics fees: often linked to weight, slab or zone, if applicable to your arrangement.
- Payment or collection fees: applicable in some models, especially on cash-on-delivery orders.
- Return and exchange related charges: reverse logistics or adjustments after a return.
- Taxes on fees and any tax collected at source: shown as separate lines. Confirm applicable rates with your tax adviser and the latest rules.
Gather the right documents first
You cannot verify a deduction without knowing what was agreed. Collect these before you open the settlement file:
- Seller agreement and latest rate card, including any amendments, category-wise terms and effective dates.
- Settlement or payment report (Excel) for the period, with order-level deduction columns.
- Sales or order report with order ID, SKU, selling price and order date.
- Returns report showing return type, date and status.
- Credit and debit notes or invoices issued for fees and adjustments.
Column names differ between reports and can change over time, so confirm in your own file which column holds which charge. Do not assume.
Step-by-step: check the breakdown for each order
- Pick a period and lock it. Use one settlement cycle or date range so that sales, settlements and returns are comparable.
- Join the files on a common key. Use order ID or item ID. Keep one row per order item, because one order can have several items with different charges.
- List every deduction in its own column. Commission, fixed fee, shipping fee, payment fee, taxes on fees, return charges, other adjustments.
- Apply the agreed terms. Work out the expected commission and fees using the rate in your agreement for that brand, category and date. Check which value the percentage applies to, as per your terms.
- Compare expected with charged. Create a difference column for each fee head, not just a total.
- Reconcile to the payout. Selling price minus all deductions plus any credits should equal the settled amount. If it does not, there is an unexplained line.
- Tag exceptions. Mark each mismatch with a reason: wrong rate, wrong slab, duplicate charge, missing credit, unexplained adjustment.
Common mismatches to look for
- Commission charged at a rate different from your agreed rate for that category or period.
- A new rate applied to orders placed before its effective date.
- Shipping or logistics fee based on a weight or slab that does not match your product master.
- The same fee deducted twice on one order item.
- Fees charged on an order that was cancelled before dispatch.
- Return charges deducted, but the sale value not reversed or credited correctly.
- Orders in your sales report that never appear in any settlement.
Sort your difference column from largest to smallest and start there. A small number of repeated errors usually explains most of the leakage.
Treat returns and adjustments separately
Returns are where order-level checks usually break down. A return may be settled in a later cycle than the original sale, so a single-period view will show a high payout first and a deduction later.
- Link each return to its original order ID.
- Check whether the commission and fees on the original sale were reversed in line with your terms. Your agreement defines this, not general practice.
- Check the return reason and the return status (for example, customer return versus courier-related return) against what was charged.
- Maintain a running list of open items so nothing ages out before you raise it.
Raise claims with evidence, and make it a routine
For each valid mismatch, record the order ID, settlement date, charged amount, expected amount, the clause or rate card line you relied on, and a screenshot or extract of the report row. Raise it through the channel and within the time window set in your agreement or seller support process, and confirm the latest process with your Myntra contact.
Doing this by hand in Excel works for a few hundred orders but gets hard at scale. MarketplaceMetrics by Fundle reconciles marketplace sales and settlements, checks commissions and fees against agreed terms, and tracks returns and recovery cases. Myntra Excel reports are reviewed, and support for other marketplaces is a matter for scoping. Whichever method you use, run the check every settlement cycle rather than once a year.
Worked example
Illustrative example only. The rates and amounts below are assumed for demonstration and are not Myntra's actual rates. Taxes on fees are left out for simplicity. Use your own agreement for real calculations.
| Line | Expected as per assumed terms (₹) | Charged in settlement (₹) | Difference (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selling price | 1,500 | 1,500 | 0 |
| Commission (assumed 20% = 300; charged 22% = 330) | 300 | 330 | 30 |
| Fixed fee | 40 | 40 | 0 |
| Shipping fee | 60 | 60 | 0 |
| Total deductions | 400 | 430 | 30 |
| Payout | 1,100 | 1,070 | -30 |
The payout is ₹30 lower than expected. The cause is the commission line, so you would check whether the rate applied matches your agreement for that category and order date. If it does not, raise the order ID with the evidence. If the same issue repeats across many orders, multiply the per-order gap by the affected orders to size the claim.
Questions and answers
Where do I find the per-order fee breakdown for Myntra?
Check the settlement or payment report available in your Myntra seller panel. It usually lists deductions at order or item level. Report formats and column names can change, so confirm the layout in your own download and with your Myntra contact.
How do I know the correct commission rate to compare against?
Use your signed seller agreement, its amendments and the latest rate card for your brand and category. Check effective dates too. If anything is unclear or missing, ask your Myntra account contact to confirm the applicable terms in writing.
Why does my payout not match selling price minus commission?
Other deductions usually explain the gap: fixed fees, shipping fees, payment fees, taxes on fees, return charges and adjustments from earlier cycles. List every line in the settlement report and reconcile them one by one against the payout.
How often should I reconcile Myntra fees?
Do it every settlement cycle. Timely checks help you spot repeated errors early and raise claims within the window in your agreement. Leaving it for months makes returns and adjustments harder to trace and evidence harder to gather.
