SHORT ANSWER

A settled order on Myntra has been included in a processed payout, with commission, fees and adjustments netted off. A pending order is recorded as a sale but not yet included in a payout. Pending is a timing and eligibility status, not a loss. It becomes a concern only when an order stays pending longer than your seller agreement allows.

What pending and settled actually mean

Myntra seller reports use status and date fields to show where each order sits between sale and payout. In plain terms:

  • Settled: the order has been included in a payout that has been processed, with commission, fees and adjustments already netted off.
  • Pending: the order is recorded as a sale but has not yet been included in a payout.

Exact labels and column names can differ between reports and change over time. Read the field definitions in your current report, and confirm them with your Myntra account manager if anything is unclear.

The key point is that pending does not mean unpaid, lost or disputed. It is a timing and eligibility status. It turns into a problem only when an order stays pending longer than your agreed terms say it should.

Why an order stays pending

Several ordinary reasons can keep an order out of a payout. These are the common ones to rule out first:

  • Payout cycle timing: an order that becomes eligible after a cycle cut-off rolls into the next payout.
  • Delivery not confirmed: the order may still be in transit or awaiting delivery confirmation.
  • Return window still open: payment eligibility may depend on a return or exchange period defined in your terms.
  • Return in progress: a return, RTO or quality check can hold the order until it is resolved.
  • Holds and offsets: penalties, claims or earlier adjustments can be netted against later payouts.
  • Data mismatches: inconsistent order IDs or SKU mapping between your records and the report.

The actual eligibility rules and cycle length are in your seller agreement and any commercial annexures. Confirm the latest terms there instead of relying on memory or old emails.

How to read pending and settled rows in your reports

When you open a settlement or sales Excel report, compare the two statuses on the same checks. Field names vary, so treat this as a guide.

CheckPending ordersSettled orders
Payout referenceUsually blankPresent
Commission and feesMay be missing or only indicativeShown as deductions in the payout
Return adjustmentsCan still changeMostly final, but later reversals are possible
Bank creditNothing to match yetShould tie to a bank credit in total

Matching at the order level is what matters. A payout total that ties to your bank statement does not prove every order in it was paid correctly.

A simple monthly reconciliation routine

  1. List delivered orders for the month from your own order data or the sales report.
  2. Tag each order as settled, pending or returned using the settlement report.
  3. Tie settled orders to payout references, then to bank credits.
  4. Check deductions such as commission and fees against your agreed rate card. Do not assume the rates; read them from your agreement.
  5. Age the pending list and compare each order's age to the payout timeline in your terms.
  6. Log exceptions with order ID, amount, reason and the date you raised them.

Doing this monthly keeps the pending list short and makes year-end or audit queries far easier.

When pending becomes a recovery issue

Escalate when an order shows one of these signs:

  • It is delivered, outside the return window, and still pending beyond the expected cycle.
  • A return was marked received or closed, but the deduction on the order does not match what you expected.
  • A deduction appears with no matching order or reason code.
  • The same order appears pending in one report and settled in another.

Raise these with order IDs, report extracts and the relevant clause in your agreement. Keep a record of each query and its resolution, because recoveries are easier to win when the evidence is organised and raised promptly. Check your agreement for any time limit on raising claims.

Where tooling helps

Spreadsheets work for a few hundred orders. Beyond that, matching sales, settlements, returns and fees by hand becomes slow and error-prone. MarketplaceMetrics by Fundle reconciles marketplace sales and settlements, checks commissions and fees against agreed terms, and tracks returns and recovery cases. Myntra Excel reports are reviewed today, and other marketplaces are a scope discussion.

Worked example

Illustrative example only. A brand reviews 100 delivered orders for a month. The figures below are made up to show the method, not real rates or results.

StatusOrdersNet payable (₹, illustrative)
Settled in a payout70₹84,000
Pending, within expected cycle18₹22,500
Pending, beyond expected cycle7₹9,100
Returned, no payout expected5₹0

Expected receivable is ₹84,000 + ₹22,500 + ₹9,100 = ₹1,15,600 (illustrative). The ₹84,000 should tie to bank credits. The ₹22,500 only needs monitoring. The 7 orders worth ₹9,100 need follow-up: check delivery status, return window and any hold reason, then raise a query with order IDs if none explains the delay.

Questions and answers

Does a pending order mean Myntra has not paid me?

Not necessarily. Pending means the order is recorded but not yet included in a payout. It may simply be waiting for the next cycle or for the return window to close. Check the timeline in your seller agreement before treating it as a missed payment.

How long can an order stay pending?

It depends on your agreement, payout cycle and the order's delivery and return status. Do not rely on a generic number. Read the settlement terms in your seller agreement and confirm the latest version with your Myntra account manager.

Why does my payout total not match settled orders?

Payouts are net of commission, fees, return adjustments and any holds or offsets from earlier periods. Compare order-level lines in the settlement report, not just the total. Differences usually trace to deductions, timing or orders carried between cycles.

What should I send when raising a pending order query?

Send the order ID, delivery date, current status, payout reference if any, expected amount and the relevant agreement clause. Attach the report extract showing the order. A clear, evidence-backed query is easier to resolve and to track later.
