Myntra TDS 194-O Certificate: How Sellers Download It

Sellers usually cannot download the Section 194-O certificate themselves; it is a Form 16A issued by the deductor, so the practical job is to check 26AS, request the certificate, and match it to your payouts.

  • Claim TDS credit correctly
  • Spot missing deductions early
  • Match 26AS to payouts
  • Cleaner quarterly closing
  • Fewer year-end surprises

SHORT ANSWER

Section 194-O TDS on Myntra is certified through Form 16A, which the deductor generates from TRACES after filing its quarterly TDS return. As a seller, you first check Form 26AS or AIS for the credit, then request the certificate from Myntra through your account manager or seller support, and match it to the TDS shown in your settlement reports.

What the 194-O certificate is, and who issues it

Section 194-O of the Income-tax Act covers tax deducted at source by an e-commerce operator on sales facilitated for sellers on its platform. When a marketplace deducts this tax from your payouts, it has to deposit it with the government, report it in its quarterly TDS return, and issue a certificate to you. That certificate is Form 16A.

The key point for the search "download": Form 16A is generated and issued by the deductor, not the seller. A seller normally cannot pull it from the income tax portal. What you can see yourself is the credit in Form 26AS or the Annual Information Statement (AIS).

The applicable rate, threshold and any exceptions can change. Do not rely on a blog for them. Confirm the latest position with your tax adviser or the Income Tax Department's published notifications.

What to keep ready before you ask

Having these details handy shortens the back-and-forth with the marketplace:

  • Your PAN exactly as registered with Myntra, since a mismatch is a common reason credit does not appear.
  • The legal entity name and GSTIN on your seller agreement.
  • The financial year and quarter you need the certificate for.
  • Your settlement or payout reports showing TDS lines for that quarter.
  • The deductor's name and TAN, if it appears on earlier certificates or in 26AS.

Step-by-step: getting your Myntra Form 16A

  1. Check 26AS or AIS first. Log in to the income tax e-filing portal and open Form 26AS or AIS for the relevant year. Look for entries under the deductor's name with Section 194-O. If the entry is there, the deductor has filed its return and the credit is reflected against your PAN.
  2. Note the quarter and amount. Record the amount booked and the quarter. You will compare these with your payout data.
  3. Request the certificate from Myntra. Raise the request through your seller support channel or account manager, or ask your Myntra finance contact. Menu paths and processes can change, so confirm the current route with them rather than assuming one fixed screen.
  4. Specify what you need. Mention your PAN, entity name, financial year and quarter, and ask for the Form 16A generated from TRACES.
  5. Save and file it. Store the certificate with your quarterly closing papers, and give a copy to your CA for the return filing.

If 26AS shows no entry even though your payouts show TDS deducted, the usual causes are that the deductor has not yet filed the return for that quarter, or the credit has been booked against a wrong PAN. Raise this with Myntra in writing with your payout evidence.

Matching the certificate with your settlements

The certificate is only useful if the numbers agree with what actually happened in your payouts. For each quarter, compare:

  • TDS deducted per your settlement or payout reports, summed by quarter.
  • TDS credit per Form 26AS or AIS.
  • TDS per the Form 16A you received.

All three should tie. If they do not, work out whether the gap is a timing difference, a returns-related adjustment, or a genuine under-credit that needs to be raised with the marketplace.

Doing this by hand across thousands of order lines gets tedious. MarketplaceMetrics by Fundle reconciles marketplace sales and settlements for Indian brands and tracks recovery cases, so a TDS gap can be followed through to resolution. Myntra Excel reports are reviewed; other marketplaces are in scope discussion.

Why TDS figures often do not match

  • Quarter cut-off. A deduction made near quarter-end may appear in a different period in your payout report than in the deductor's return.
  • Returns and cancellations. Sales that are later returned may be treated differently in your payout data and the amount reported by the deductor. Check how your agreement and the settlement report treat them.
  • PAN or entity mismatch. Credit goes against the PAN the deductor reports. Name changes, a conversion from proprietorship to company, or typing errors can cause misses.
  • Delayed filing. Credit shows in 26AS only after the deductor files its return.
  • Different bases. The amount on which tax is computed may differ from the net payout you receive. Always read the base used in your settlement report.

A simple quarterly routine

Do this within a few weeks of each quarter closing rather than at ITR time:

  1. Total TDS from payout reports for the quarter.
  2. Check 26AS or AIS for the same quarter.
  3. Request Form 16A once 26AS shows the entry.
  4. Log any difference as an open item with the date, amount and the evidence you sent to Myntra.
  5. Follow up until the credit is corrected, and share the final position with your CA.

Keeping the open-item log in one place, along with other settlement differences, helps finance teams see which issues are still unresolved and for how long.

Worked example

Illustrative example only. Figures are not real and not a rate guide.

  • Quarter: Q2 of a financial year.
  • TDS deducted per settlement reports, summed for the quarter: ₹1,240.
  • TDS credit per Form 26AS for the same quarter: ₹1,090.
  • Difference: ₹150.

Next steps: first check whether any deductions were made close to the quarter-end and may fall in the next quarter's return. Then check whether any deduction relates to orders that were later returned and adjusted. If neither explains the ₹150, raise it with Myntra with the payout lines, your PAN, and a screenshot of 26AS, and ask for the correction to be made in a revised TDS return if needed. Log it as an open item until the credit appears.

Questions and answers

Can I download the Form 16A for Myntra directly from TRACES?

Generally no. Form 16A is generated by the deductor from TRACES and shared with the deductee. As a seller, you can see the credit in Form 26AS or AIS, and you request the certificate from Myntra through your account manager or seller support.

When will the TDS credit show in my Form 26AS?

Credit appears after the deductor files its quarterly TDS return and it is processed. The timing depends on the deductor's filing, so there can be a lag after the quarter ends. Check the due dates with your tax adviser or the department's latest notifications.

What if TDS was deducted in my payouts but is missing in 26AS?

First confirm the quarter has been filed and that your PAN is correct in Myntra's records. If both are fine, write to Myntra with your payout lines, PAN and quarter, and ask them to check and correct the TDS return if required.

Which TDS rate applies to my Myntra sales?

Rates and thresholds under Section 194-O can change, so do not rely on a fixed figure from an article. Check your seller agreement, the TDS lines in your settlement report, and confirm the latest rate with your CA or the Income Tax Department.
